NOTICE TO TENDER
Tender for Lead Professional Advisor
St Mary’s Church, Chaddesden, Derby
We are seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified conservation accredited architects or building surveyors to act as the lead professional for a phased re-roofing project. Significant funding is already in place for Phase 1 of the project via a Repair Grant for Heritage at Risk from Historic England. Phase 2 will be dependant on successful bids for grants for the remainder of the funding.
St Mary’s Church, Chaddesden is a Grade 1 Listed building on the Heritage at Risk Register, with a Westmoreland Slate Roof from 1858. The church houses a thriving church family of over 100 people.
St Mary’s Church was built in 1347AD. It first existed as a small chapel and then was significantly increased in size during the reign of King Edward III in 1420. All the roofs were renewed in 1858 with the pitch being altered at the same time. These slates have now reached the end of their natural life.
The first phase of works will include a development period, followed by extensive roof repairs to the south side of the building and the Tower roof. It will also include rainwater management improvements. A future second phase of works, funded separately, would hope to repair the remaining roofs.
Those expressing interest will be asked to complete and submit a pre-qualification questionnaire. The lead professional will need to be a named individual with AABC, RIBASCA or RICS Conservation Accreditation. A selection process, based on evidence of appropriate conservation experience and management capability, will be used to produce a list of no more than 4 consultants who will then be invited to submit formal tenders and, if deemed appropriate, take part in an interview process. Decisions on appointments will be made on the basis of quality as well as cost.
Apply no later than August 7nd 2017. No liability or costs will be accepted for work involved in making any submissions and no guarantee is given that any contract will be offered.
